Overview
What one can expect from the Everest Base Camp trek is an excellent journey full of time to marvel the beauty of the surrounding area and to merge in. It covers all the highlights of the Everest National Park including Namche Bazaar, Khumbu’s Sherpa capital, unmatched view point of Kala Pattar (5,545m) and the ever so exciting Everest Base Camp which are extraordinary viewpoints for Nuptse, Everest, and Lhotse.

This adventure kicks off with a sweeping scenic flight to Lukla from where the trek stars. The lengthy walk follows many farm villages on route with awesome views of the high snow capped peaks of the world. It also elevates to the highest spot at Kalapatthar for the outstanding breathtaking panoramic views of peaks and its glacier including Mt. Everest at close distance.

The Everest region is understandably one of the most popular and spectacular destinations for trekkers because it offers some of the most fascinating and enjoyable trekking.

After the adventurously memorable journey, our route heads back to Lukla for the scenic short flight back to Kathmand.

DESCRIPTION

Trekking to the Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal is in many ways like visiting a real mountain museum. Nowhere else on earth is there such a dense concentration of mountains of such stature. Four out of ten of the world’s highest peaks are here. Basically, you will be breathing and eating mountains throughout.

In the backdrop of this grandeur, you will find the Himalayan Tahrs as tame as your domestic goats, and the iridescent Himalayan Monal more trusting than your barn chicken.

And to top it all off, the amazing Sherpa hospitality comes second to none. In the contemplative adventure that is the Everest Base Camp Trek, you will miss nothing, not even the internet.

 

 

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu 1,300m via respective airlines.

On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport you will be received by our staff and transfer you to the Hotel, where our guide will give you a brief orientation of the Hotel, Kathmandu, trekking programs, do’s and don’ts and other related information that you might require while in Nepal.

 

Day 02: A day in Kathmandu with half day sightseeing tour.

After your first night in Kathmandu, you will be well informed on arrival about the time for your half day guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at places of interest. Sometime, depending upon your flight arrival if it’s late in the night we will do this tour in the afternoon instead of morning to give you a nice rest before you venture out of the Hotel in our interesting tour.

 

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla & trek to Phakding. Approx: 45 minutes flight to Lukla 2,800m 9-10km (2 1/2 -3hr walk) to Phakding at 2,652m.

Early morning you will be transferred from the Hotel to domestic Airport. A short drive of 20-30 minutes, after the necessary security formalities board in the smaller twin otter or similar plane for the sweeping panoramic flight to Lukla, on arrival you will be received by our trekking guides. In Lukla you will have time to wander around, while the Sherpa crew sort and divide the load, lunch depending upon the time of arrival at Lukla either in Lukla or few walks further down on route to Phakding. The walk is gradual most of the way, with few ups with view of Kusum-Kangru 6,369m crossing a short suspension bridge, a short climb brings to the Ghat village, and another 1.5hr of gradual walk brings you to Phakding village for the overnight stop near the bank of the Dudh-Koshi River.

 

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440m approx. 5-6 hrs.

From Phakding after crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh-Kosi, the walk is pleasant with few short uphill and downhill and re-crossing the same river again with magnificent view of Thamserku 6,608m, then reaching a small village of Monjo after the last 20 minutes climb from the stream. After Monjo, comes to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, from here a short descend with a gradual walk to the Jorsalle village is reached. The last village and the only place to shop till Namche Bazaar is reached, a second bridge is reached over the same river, the walk is pleasant on the river bed till the last bridge over the Imjatse river is reached, from here the walk is along the winding uphill path all the way to Namche Bazaar, with magnificent view of Kwangde peak, Kusum Kangru Mt. Everest- Nuptse wall, Lhotse and the closer view of Taweche peak can be seen all the way up, from here another 1-2 hour walk up brings to the famed Namche Bazaar, the colorful houses are situated in an amphitheatre U shaped bowl.

 

 Day 05: Rest Day at Namche Bazaar.

Activities a short walk uphill to the Sagarmatha National Park Headquarter, a magnificent spot perched on top of Namche Bazaar with breathtaking view of the surrounding snow capped giants and the valleys way down, with an interesting museum with all kinds of information regarding the history of the Himalayas, geographic, culture, mountaineering history and existing information on flora and fauna of this region, afternoon at leisure.

 

Day 05: Rest Day at Namche Bazaar.

 Suggested activities a short walk uphill to the Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters, a magnificent spot perched on top of Namche Bazaar with breathtaking view of the surrounding snow capped giants and the valleys way down, with an interesting museum with all kinds of information regarding the history of the Himalayas, geographic, culture, mountaineering history and existing information on flora and fauna of this region, afternoon at leisure.

 

Day 05: Trek to Khumjung

  Start trek to the beautiful Sherpa village of Khumjung. The trek takes about two hours. After having breakfast, explore the village. Visit the famous Khumjung Monastery, where you can see ‘Yeti Skull’, Khumjung school, which was built by Sir Edmund Hillary, and the beautiful Khunde village with a health post built by Hillary.

 

Day 06: Trek to Tengboche

The trail descends to the Dudh Khosi. You can enjoy spectacular views of Ama Dablam (6696m) and Kantega (6779m) as well as Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8501m). After crossing the Dudh Koshi River at Phunki Thanga and climb through the beautiful rhododendron forest to the saddle at the top of the hill, the magnificent Tengboche monastery appears before us out of nowhere. It is one of the important monasteries in the entire Khumbu region. You can meet and interact with the Lamas. Members of climbing parties offer pay homage to gods and goddesses here before embarking on the summit.

 

Day 07: Tengboche to Monjo

After breakfast, we bade adieu to the Tengboche monastery and the mountains and started a descent to the Dudh Koshi River. The trail is easy. After crossing the river, it is uphill again until we meet a beautiful balcony section which  takes us to Namche Bazaar. After having lunch here, we make a descent to the confluence of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers and walk along the banks of the merged river. We cross the river couple of times before reaching Monjo

 

Day 08: Monjo to Lukla

We walk in a leisurely pace on the trail that we walked on the first day of our trek. After having lunch at Thado Koshi, we make a short climb to Lukla – the final point of our trek. Tomorrow we will board a flight to Kathmandu.

 

Day 09: Fly to Kathmandu

After breakfast, board a flight to Kathmandu. Take one last view of the Himalayas from the comfort of your airline seat. A vehicle will be waiting for you at the Kathmandu airport to take you to your hotel. Take rest in the hotel. Remaining time is free for independent activities. 

Day 10: Spare day in Kathmandu 

This day acts as a bugger in case flight from Lukla does not take off owing to bad weather. You can spend the day shopping souvenirs for friends and families back home. Sightseeing trips can be arranged on request.

 

Day 11: Departure 

Your last day in Nepal. Our representative will transfer you at the airport for your return flight.
